Parents

Dear Parents,

Welcome to the Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps (AFROTC) Detachment 009 at Yale University. It is a pleasure to welcome your son/daughter into the Air Force’s newest AFROTC Detachment. Yale has a long and noble history of National Service. Military Service, after the Yale experience, is at the very pinnacle of the United States being able to succeed in an unpredictable global environment. We can assure you your son/daughter will feel welcome and find the experience both professionally and personally rewarding. Therefore, we look forward to working with your son/daughter as they pursue a career in the World’s finest Air and Space Forces.

Your son/daughter has made an important choice in pursuing the AFROTC program, perhaps the most important one they will make throughout their college years. In choosing this program, they have also chosen an activity that will provide new friends and experiences, knowledgeable advisors who have been hand-selected to mentor and instruct them, and a training program that will prepare them for a career in the Air and Space Forces.

Additionally, if on scholarship, the AFROTC program could potentially cover their full tuition and fees, as well as provide a book stipend each semester and a monthly stipend to help with other expenses during the academic year. Those who are not on scholarship will have the opportunity to compete for one of our scholarships during their freshmen and sophomore years.

If you should have any questions or concerns, please contact our staff; we hope that you will find us helpful. The Detachment’s phone number is (203) 432-9431 or you can email us at airforce@yale.edu.

Welcome to our Air and Space Forces Family. Our staff looks forward to meeting you in the future.
