Dear Students,
Welcome to the Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps (AFROTC) Detachment 009 at Yale University. It is a pleasure to welcome you into the Air Force’s newest AFROTC Detachment. Yale has a long and noble history of National Service. Military Service, after the Yale experience, is at the very pinnacle of the United States being able to succeed in an unpredictable global environment. We look forward to assisting you in your pursuit of a Commission in the World’s finest Air and Space Forces. We can assure you that you will feel welcome and find the experience both professionally and personally rewarding.
You have made an important choice in pursuing the AFROTC program, perhaps the most important one you will make throughout your college years. In choosing this program, you have also chosen an activity that will provide new friends and experiences, knowledgeable advisors who have been hand-selected to mentor and instruct you, and a training program that will prepare you for a career in the Air and Space Forces.
Additionally, if on scholarship, the AFROTC program could potentially cover your full tuition and fees, as well as provide a book stipend each semester and a monthly stipend to help with other expenses during the academic year. Those who are not on scholarship will have the opportunity to compete for one of our scholarships during your freshmen and sophomore years.
If you should have any questions or concerns, please contact our staff; we hope that you will find us helpful. The Detachment’s phone number is (203) 432-9431 or you can email us at airforce@yale.edu.
Welcome to our Air and Space Forces Family. Our staff looks forward to meeting you, and leading you, in the future.
